Georgian Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase

Description

A handsome George III Hepplewhite period mahogany secretaire bookcase; the swan neck pediment above a pear drop cornice and gothic astragal glazed doors which open to reveal adjustable shelves; below is a secretaire drawer which opens to reveal a full fitted interior of drawers and pigeon holes arranged a central door; below are graduated drawers; raised on the original bracket feet.

This Georgian bookcase is a lovely example of Hepplewhite furniture with its blend of elegant design and masculine proportions. The bookcase's drawers retain their original French Hepplewhite handles and it has a lovely colour and patination. Circa 1775.
