A tazza is a wide, shallow dish elevated on a stem and footed base, traditionally produced during the nineteenth century for serving fruit or sweetmeats, or for display as a table centrepiece.

Victorian cased or flashed glass was made by fusing a layer of coloured molten glass over clear lead crystal, after which wheel-cut or etched patterns were carved through the outer layer to expose the clear glass beneath.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-cut detailing, precise wheel-cut starburst bases or ground pontil marks, substantial lead crystal weight, and sharp definition where the coloured overlay meets the clear glass.
