Victorian Silver Topped Inkwells

19th century
Description

A superb Victorian desk stand with a pair of sterling silver topped inkwells on a heavy cut glass base. The base has a recessed dished pen tray between the inkwells and a beautiful hobnail cut base. The inkwells have hinged silver tops with beautiful swirling floral and foliate designs.

Both the collar and top are clearly hallmarked for Sheffield, 1898 and the maker John Round & Son

It is in very good condition for its age and there are no major damages to the glass. There are some light surface marks and a few small dinks on the silver tops but nothing detrimental. The hinges are strong and open well. The silver has been lightly cleaned and polished and overall it displays very well.
