Jane Simone Bussy (1906–1960) Bloomsbury Group Associations
An intriguing painting of the Edinburgh skyline by Jane Bussy, the niece of Bloomsbury Group founding member Lytton Strachey. A French artist, Bussy was a frequent summer visitor to Charleston and exhibited her work at the renowned Lefevre Gallery in London. In 1998, her work was featured in the exhibition Sixty Years On at the Bloomsbury Workshop. Fully signed, painted in oil on artist’s board and presented in a stylish frame, probably the original.
Provenance
Acquired at auction in south-western France, not far from the artist’s home. Copy invoice available to purchaser.
Condition
In good sound original condition, would benefit from a light clean. The frame is pleasantly time worn.
