Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pricket candlestick features a central vertical metal spike designed to secure a candle at its base, a design widely used before standard hollow sockets became universal. During the Regency era, these items incorporated classical proportions, baluster stems, and decorative bases.

These candlesticks were cast from solid brass or bronze using sand-casting methods. The drip pan, central stem, and base sections were often cast separately and joined using an internal threaded iron rod.

Authentic Regency brass pieces exhibit surface oxidisation, hand-chased finishing details, and subtle irregularities from historical casting processes. They also display substantial physical weight and traditional threaded assembly underneath the base.

Position a pair of pricket candlesticks on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or dining table to introduce vertical structure and warm metallic tones. They can be displayed with traditional pillar candles or left unlit as sculptural architectural objects.

Dust the surfaces regularly using a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical polishes that strip historical patina. Accumulated wax can be removed by gently warming the metal with warm water before wiping clean.
