The French jeweller Georges Frédéric Strass invented “Paste" in 1724.
It was an instant success with the chic upper classes of Parisian society and continues to be highly sought after today. Nowadays paste is often used as a generic term to describe costume gemstones.

MATERIALS: 925 sterling silver, paste gemstones.
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: The screws are stamped SCP - this is an early mark used by CIRO for their high-quality range of sterling silver costume jewellery.
CONDITION: Very good vintage/antique condition, a little tarnished in places but lovely and bright and sparkly in the ear.
ERA: Estimated Art Deco c.1917-1930s.
