Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, natural history collection became a prominent hobby across Britain, driven by scientific curiosity and the popularity of country pursuits. Animal horn mounts were frequently created as sporting trophies or decorative displays for private libraries and cabinets of curiosities.

These items consist of natural animal horn made from keratin, attached to a portion of the original skull structure. The central section often retains original hide or fur and is fitted with metal eyelets, wire, or twine for wall suspension.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of natural age, including minor surface cracking, oxidisation on metal fittings, and aged twine or wire. The central skull area or pelt section typically demonstrates traditional nineteenth-century preservation methods rather than modern synthetic materials.

Taxidermy horn mounts can be styled on a mantelpiece, placed inside a glass cloche, or integrated into a gallery wall within dark academia or traditional country interiors. They pair well with aged timber surfaces, leather upholstery, and brass accents.

Keep the mount in a climate-controlled room away from direct sunlight, dampness, and heat sources to prevent cracking or insect damage. Clean gently using a soft, dry brush to clear dust from the horn ridges and preserved hide.
