Available for sale from Big Sky Fine Art in the English county of Dorset, this original portrait painting of the European Tradition dates from around 1790 to 1815.
The painting is by an unidentified hand but has qualities that resemble the work of Pierre-Paul Prud''hon 1758–1823, Henri-Franēois Riesener 1767–1828, Franēois Gérard 1770–1837 and Louis Léopold Boilly 1761–1845.
The canvas and the painted surface have benefitted from cleaning, restoration and conservation, which was performed on our instruction, supervision and approval.
The painting is presented and supplied in its original frame. The frame has been restored and furnished with new replacement hanging fittings.

This evocative original oil on canvas portrait dates from around 1790 to 1815 and is attributed to the European School, possibly French. Although the artist remains unknown, the work demonstrates a high level of skill in both execution and emotional expression.
Entitled “La Gamine”, the portrait captures a youthful sitter with an androgynous charm, gazing thoughtfully into the distance with chin resting on hand.
