Rare George I Miniature Silver Toy Brandy Warming Pan C.1725

A very sweet and rare early Georgian miniature silver brandy warming pan by specialist miniature silver toy maker David Clayton. Crafted as a full sized one would be, of typical bound bellied form with pouring lip and applied side handle with turned wood terminal. These miniature "toys" were made as curiosities to entertain and amuse the very wealthy rather than being for children or doll's houses as is sometimes thought.

Marked to the base with the lion passant and maker's mark for David Clayton. These are partially rubbed but clearly identifiable. c.1725.

It measures 3cm (1 1/8") high to the pan rim and 4cm (1 5/8") high to the handle, 7cm (2 3/4") at the widest point to the end of the handle and 4cm (1 1/2") across the belly itself.

Condition is very good: the handle has been reattached and the turned wood terminal is an understandable replacement with two tiny splits near the bottom caused by the re-pinning; these are very small and appear stable. Slight distortion to the rim in places. No dents, holes, or splits and handling wear is very light.
