This is an antique correspondence box. An English, rosewood writing slope case, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. A quality example with fine hidden storage and a beautifully appointed interior.

Crafted from select rosewood, offering fine grain interest and warm caramel hues

Casework edged in brass for a tactile, attractive contrast

Unmarked brass plaque to the lid, with a matching lock escutcheon to the fascia — in working order, key present

Opens to reveal a beautifully appointed interior, ideal for writing and correspondence

Later tooled and embossed crimson skivers, arranged in two folding sections
