English Regency Pen Work Box - Chinoiserie Decorated C.1820

Description

A quite beautiful painted penwork jewelery or table box decorated on the top with a wonderful Chinese scene and all other sides decorated with highly decorative floral and foliate work.

The box stands on four wooden ball feet and each side has a cast brass handle in the from of a basket of flowers.

The interior has been recently re-lined in hand-marbled paper, creating a clean, fresh finish making it very usable today.

Very good condition, there is some wear and small losses, which is very common with this work, but being nearly 200 years old, it is quite remarkable. The box has been professionally re-polished to showcase it's beauty and protect for another 200 years. Measuring 8" x 6" x 3 3/4"; complete with working tasselled replacement key.
