Antique Sterling Silver Box by William Comyns - Birds - 1899

Description

One of William Comyn's most sought-after designs, this box is decorated with a plethora of repousse work, stylized floral and foliate motifs with various doves.

The box has an Art Nouveau influence, just becoming used during the late Victorian era. The domed top has a large vacant cartouche to the top which of course could be engraved by a silversmith, should you wish to personalize with initials or/and a date.

The lid fits well and when opened reveal an opulent gilded interior. The box is hallmarked for London 1899, together with the makers initials, WC.

Excellent condition, measuring 4" x 2" x 1 1/4" tall.
