Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Calling card cases became prominent social accessories during the nineteenth century, used to hold personal visiting cards presented upon entering a residence. Crafting these items in sterling silver or mixed materials reflected etiquette and status during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Irish silver items often incorporate local minerals such as Connemara marble alongside fine sterling or coin silver. Craftsmen frequently used hand engraving, chasing, and stone inlay to create decorative foliate and shamrock designs.

Authenticity is determined by evaluating hallmarks, maker marks, and the quality of the stone setting. Authentic Connemara marble exhibits unique green serpentine veining, while historical silver displays period-appropriate hand engraving and hallmark stamps.

Small silver objects can be styled on desk trays, incorporated into bookshelf vignettes, or presented in glass display cloches. They serve as historical decorative accents on study desks, console tops, and curiosity cabinets.

Silver components should be cleaned gently using a soft cotton cloth and silver polishing lotion, avoiding harsh chemical dips that could damage porous natural stones like marble. Store in low-humidity environments to minimize oxidisation.
