Antique Lignum Vitae String Pot

19th century
Description

A lovely treen Lignum Vitae string pot dating from the mid 19th Century. It has a turned body with threaded screw on lid. There is a hole for the string to come out and the finial is hiding a cutter.

It has a natural rich colour and has developed a lovely patina. It is in good solid order with no major cracks or damages. There are of course signs of age and use and a couple of small marks and knocks here and there but nothing detrimental. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and displays beautifully.
