Hingstons of Wilton has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The cabinetmaker selected fine mahogany, (that was not available at a timber merchant at the time as the best trees had been felled in the Georgian period) from redundant Georgian tables that had the most wonderful timber that then could be used in construction of the top of this wonderful mahogany dining table. The bases are also made of period mahogany.
The table has 2 extension leaves, that sits on runners to make this an easy 10 seat diner. The table can be used with any combination you need to seat your dinner party. Therefore, you can use it closed without any leaves in place or 1 or 2 in place to suit your dining requirements.
This Georgian style mahogany twin pedestal dining table provides wonderful dining space, also as it is of a good depth, this will allow you to dress the table fully.
A pair of gun barrel turned columns with triple legs sweeping off these, make the undercarriage look very elegant, while giving it a look of stature.
Each leg has lovely, moulded reeds that have the very smart cast plain brass square toes.
This table uses the timbers colour, grain to great effect and would command a dining room, you would be bound to get many compliments of your superb choice, gaining great pleasure as you entertain your family and friends around it.
We have not needed to repolish this lovely example, it has faded beautifully and so has a wonderful untouched finish.
