Rowland Henry Hill 1873-1952.Landscape and figure painter in oil and watercolour.Born in Halifax and studied at Bradford School of Art and Herkomer School ,Bushey.Exhibited 21 works at. RA from 1897, in the provinces and at the Paris Salon.Lived at Hinderwell near Staithes.He was a leading member of the Staithes School of Artists.His work is much collected and an painting by him was recently auctioned for £10000. ‘ Horse Guards, Whitehall, London ‘ signed watercolour heightened with white ;image size 23.5x31 cms,framed size 47 x54cms; provenance :Exhibited T B & R.Jordan ‘ Third Harrogate Staithes Exhibition 2005
