18th Century Old Sheffield Plated Serving Tray Coat of Arms

Description

A fine oval serving tray made of Old Sheffield Plate standing well on four feet. Dating to c1790 with no makers marks, but tinned to the base. With a large Coat of Arms to the centre for Purvis of Blackbrook, with the Latin motto 'Clarior e Tenebris' (Brighter from Obscurity).

In good condition with some copper bleed to the raised edges and feet. Some slight verdigris to one edge and small knock to one foot but the tray still stands firmly.

Weight approx 1.4kg

Measures approx 41cm x 30.5cm.
