Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

Here is a rare chance to buy a very early piece of table treen from the late 17thc....it is a pole-lathe turned ''standing salt'' made from finest English cherrywood ....it has a large ''chuck'' hole in the base, typical of 17thc pieces of treen and stands on a raised base with a vase - shaped bowl and there is a similar example in ''Owen Evan-Thomas book on Domestic Utensils Of Wood'', page 117 Plate 45 F....it has gained a wonderful colour / patination and is in nice condition.

English. C1670-90
