Heriz rugs have always had a powerful effect on me, the good ones of course. Firstly the colours are so rich, irresistibly beautiful I would say with their coral reds, deep blues, strong abrashed greens and soft light blues. Then the complexity of the design has to be appreciated. It is impossible to take in as a whole, I believe them to be deliberately confusing and I am often hypnotised by this combination of complex interconnected patterns and wonderful colour.
This example has the best palette and a fascinating design, I think these old carpets are very special pieces, they have a long lasting attraction due to their complex balanced designs with subtle nuances. I am particularly fond of this one.
Fair condition, some wear with loss to the ends.
