Spanish Dancers - Antique Watercolour

1940 - 1960
Description

Signed watercolour of three Spanish dancers by the artist Coll Bardolet (1912 - 2007). The painting is mounted and framed with a simple gilt frame.

Coll Bardolet is a fairly well known Spanish figurative and landscape artist where he has a foundation dedicated to him and his work in Valldemossa. Bardolet studied at the Escola Superior de Paisatge in Olot

and then went to France, settling in Tours, where he studies at the École des Beaux Arts.

He later enrolled in the École des Beaux Arts in Brussels, where he studied then under Professor Alfred Bastien. He then travels to Mallorca for extended visits and has exhibitions in Palma and Barcelona where he learns engraving techniques.

To summarise some of his achievements - He as received various awards and medals including the Balearic Islands Medal for Merit in Tourism. and is honoured by the French Government with the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Arts and Letters). He is also declared an “Adoptive Son” of the town of Valldemossa.

He is honoured with the title of Cantaire d’honor (Honorary Singer) of the Balearic Islands University Choir.

In 1989 - 1993 there were donation of his works to the Museum of Lluc (Mallorca) and opening of the Coll Bardolet Exhibition Hall. He receives the Catalan Regional Government Creu de Sant Jordi Award, and the Gold Medal of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands. He is honoured by the Belgian Royal House with the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Couronne (Knight of the Order of the Crown).
