Rare Georgian Jacobite-engraved "Stricken Oak" Multi Spiral Air Twist Wine Glass

This is a rare Georgian, English, Jacobite, Stricken-Oak engraved multi spiral air twist stem wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750.
 
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
 
 
The glass has a trumpet-shaped bowl measuring 6.7 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with Jacobite symbology. On one side there is an oak tree stump from which grows two oak leaves. According to Graham Seddon in his book - The Jacobites and their drinking glasses, page 98 - ''A few finely engraved glasses display what is known as the ''stricken oak''. .. The new sapling presumably represents the anticipated second restoration of the Stuarts''.
