Late 19th-Century French Equestrian chromolithograph print Ernest Bodoy - A. Legras Ed Paris. The print shows a jockey walking on this horse and retains very good colour. The print is from a piece by the equestrian artist Ernest Bodoy and reproduced by A Legras Paris.
 
Bodoy used rich colours and set them against a subtle faux bois painted background. The prints has Bodoy’s signature and the A. Legras logo. The print is mounted in a simple wooden frame.
 
Chromolithography is a colour printing technique popular in the 19th century, which allowed the prints to maintain richly saturated hues and a sense of immediacy that is rare in traditional lithographs of the era. Known colloquially as ''chromos,'' these prints represented an accessible form of popular art, vibrant and affordable, bringing fine art into many homes. A. Legras’s use of this technique reflects enabled him to produce high-quality reproductions.
