Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian biscuit barrels emerged during the late nineteenth century in Britain as dedicated containers designed to serve and preserve dry baked goods during afternoon tea. Typically manufactured from glazed earthenware, stoneware, or art glass, they were fitted with metal lids and swing handles to maintain freshness and allow ease of transport.

These vessels usually feature a ceramic or glass body fitted with electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or sterling silver rims, lids, and handles. Decorative patterns were typically applied to the earthenware body using transfer-printing techniques, relief moulding, or hand-painted enamel details.

Authentic period pieces often bear impressed or printed manufacturer backstamps, registration numbers, or maker marks on the base of the ceramic body. In addition, genuine period items exhibit age-consistent wear to the silver plating around high-friction areas such as the rim, handle hinges, and lid finial.

An antique biscuit barrel makes a distinctive decorative accent when placed on a dining sideboard, kitchen island, or dresser shelf. It serves as an engaging table centerpiece or can be functionally repurposed to store wrapped confectioneries and small kitchen items.

Wash the ceramic body gently with warm water and mild liquid soap using a non-abrasive sponge, taking care not to submerge metal mountings in water. The silver-plated mounts should be buffed using a dry, soft microfiber cloth or a dedicated silver polishing cloth to prevent stripping the thin layer of silver plating.
