An Outstanding Victorian Stripped Pine Chest of Drawers Dressing Table Adjustable Mirror Tough Finish
This would have been stripped during the 80s or 90s at the beginning of the pine revival.
Unlike a lot of the pine restorations from that era this has been incredibly well maintained and is well preserved.
Pine was traditionally polished. The upshot of that was that the polish would always deteriorate, get mucky with water stains, general wear, finger marks, etc. Whoever restored this at the time, put on a transparent, clear, but tough finish.
As with all stripped pine there are anomalies to the finish and differing hues of colour so do check all of the images before you buy.
The drawers all run well and are clean.
They have delightful strips of moulding to the sides of the drawers which adds a lovely depth and aesthetic to the piece.
The chest sits on bun feet.
The top section has a useful
... shelf for your accoutrements and a lovely tilting mirror which still boasts the original thick bevel glass. There is some minor black spotting which only adds to the authenticity of the mirror and in no way impugns the integrity of the reflection.
The condition is very good, fully ntact and sturdy. There are a couple of small areas with signs of minor repair, but nothing that is a detriment to the overall aesthetics.
An outstanding piece and ever so practical being a combination of a chest of drawers and dressing table.
