Antique silver half hunter pocket watch, 1887.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Connell 83 Cheapside London, this would have been the original retailer of the watch. The company was listed as a manufacturer and dealer of modern artists’ jewellery and silverware, founded in the early 19th Century by William Connell.

The watch measures 46mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and is hallmarked inside both of the covers for London 1887 with a maker’s mark for the Coventry case maker Robert Pike. The case is in lovely condition with a small lens to the front surrounded by blue enamel filled Roman numerals.

The winding crown pushes in to release the front cover.

Inside, there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition.

The dial is in lovely condition with pin-set blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
