Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George IV buffet table is a piece of tiered dining room furniture crafted during the reign of King George IV (18201830). Designed primarily for holding serving dishes and tableware, these pieces often feature open shelves, turned supports, and rich mahogany timber.

Early 19th-century serving tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcass wood. High-grade brass was routinely used for the castors, hinges, and structural fittings.

Authentic pieces display period-correct construction techniques, such as hand-cut joinery, hand-turned support columns, and original brass castors. Look for genuine age-related patination and natural shrinkage in the solid timber surfaces.

A tiered antique server can be integrated into a contemporary space as a sophisticated bar cart, a hall console, or display shelving for ceramics and books. Combining rich mahogany tones with modern art creates an effective visual contrast.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year. Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent cracking and fading.
