A fine quality antique English small Art Deco wardrobe, designed with a break-front shape, in two-tone burr elm and walnut, comprising two doors, ci
...rca 1930, in excellent original condition. The two-door wardrobe comprises a classic bow-front / cloud shaped break-front design, which is constructed with a dark burr elm centre, flanked by two lighter mirror-matched walnut doors and a French polished top. The two wardrobe doors display stunning mirror-matched figured walnut timbers. The doors retain their original walnut handle bars and chrome door hinges. The left-hand door retains its original sliding bolt at the top, to secure the door when closed. The right-hand door also retains its original working lever lock and key.
Inside, the Art Deco closet retains its original interior, which is lined in lovely birds-eye maple timber. There is a telescopic hanging rail to the left, with three pull-out drawers on the right-hand side. The pull-out drawer linings have been constructed with fine dove-tail joints. There are also three fixed shelf compartments below. On the right-hand door, remains the original retailers’ label, which reads “Robert & Co. Willenhall – Complete House Furnishers”, which is needs to have its provenance available. At the bottom of the walnut wardrobe there is the original a metal chrome pole, to rest your shoes off the ground. The small Art Deco wardrobe, sits on its original moulded recessed plinth and the back features solid backboards. This small Art Deco armoire is single-piece unit.
Condition Report:
Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The Art Deco bow front wardrobe has been cleaned and French polished by hand in our workshop to a professional standard. The interior is clean and retains all its original components. The doors retain their original door latches, handles and working lever lock, including the original key. The Art Deco walnut wardrobe retains its original backboards and it stands on its original recessed plinth. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
