Clockwise is proud to offer this excellent and very well proportioned oak longcase clock for sale. This Georgian case is typical of the provincial clockmakers of the time, with a long simple trunk, the whole case standing on a shaped plinth. The case has a lovely sheen and is a gorgeous colour, the long trunk door retaining a working lock and key. The hood has oak pillars to the front hood door and quarter pillars to the rear with a decorative pediment atop. The eight day, rack-striking anchor escapement movement has just been serviced and strikes the hours on a very pleasing bell. The restored 11.5 inch square brass dial is a particular feature of this piece with a glorious brass base plate, perfect spandrels and a silvered chapter ring and inner with decorative blacked engraving surrounding the starburst patterned seconds dial and around the working date window.
