This is an absolutely superb example of a late Victorian open metal mirror or wall mirror.
It is very rare to find one in this shape. The design is almost reminiscent of a contemporary 1980s style, yet it was made in the late Victorian era.
It features five thick original panes of bevelled glass, all of which are in remarkably good condition and well-preserved for being over 100 years old.
The same goes for the oak frame, which has the traditional dark finish typical of the era. However, it’s worth noting there is evidence of a fresh cut at the top and along the sides near the shelves. This suggests the mirror may have been modified or trimmed to fit a specific space.
It would be fascinating to see its original form. That said, I didn’t even notice these adjustments until I started photographing the piece. These modifications certainly do not affect its overall aesthetic and may even have improved the fr

Crafted with top-quality materials and workmanship, this is an outstanding example of late Victorian furniture. Its unique design makes it an imposing and impressive feature wherever it is displayed.
There are two old mirror plates at the very top, though you may want to add additional wall attachments if you plan to suspend it independently. The original plates would have been adequate since the bottom was designed to rest on an overmantel, which would have supported its weight.
