Pair of Antique Late Victorian Walnut Bedside Chests

Pretty yet functional pieces.

Presented here is a magnificent and rare pair of late Victorian walnut bedside chests, a true testament to the fine craftsmanship of the era. Each cabinet features 3 beautifully crafted descending drawers complete with scratch reeded drawer fronts. The cabinets are complemented by having matching front vertical rails, which creates a cohesive and elegant design with a texture. The drawers are meticulously joined with fine hand-cut dovetails and operate smoothly with little to no drawer wear, each drawer is also remarkably clean inside. Each drawer is adorned with original brass pierced plate dropper handles, which have been highly polished, really showing off their a lovely intricate design whilst contrasting with the wood.

Having been thoroughly checked over and fully restored in our workshop, these cabinets have been professionally stripped and re-polished with a traditional French polish maintaining some of their original patina. This process has brought out the rich, warm tones and natural lustre of the walnut grain, ensuring they are not only stunning but also completely home-ready.

The tops of both cabinets have a lovely mounded edge finished with a lovely raised up-stand, a practical and stylish feature that prevents items from slipping off while adding to the overall refined aesthetic. This matching pair, in superb condition, would make a splendid and functional addition to any bedroom, offering both beauty and a rich sense of history.

Condition and Provenance As antiques, these cabinets shows signs of age and use. While in fantastic condition, expect minor marks consistent with historical pieces. These cabinets are of a great quality and are structurally sound, with no major damage that would detract from their beauty or functionality.
