Designed during the Second World War by William E. Fairbairn and Eric A. Sykes, this fighting dagger was developed for British Commandos and Special Forces. It was engineered specifically as a close-quarters combat weapon with a needle-sharp point designed to penetrate heavy clothing.

These blades were forged from high-carbon steel, while the crossguard was stamped from sheet metal or cast steel. The handles were manufactured from turned brass or cast zinc alloy, and the accompanying sheath was crafted from dark leather with brass or steel fittings.
