Rare Oak & Silver Plated Ice Bucket - Ceramic Creamware Liner C.1885

Description

Rarely found and highly sought-after ice bucket in English Oak in the form of a coopered bucket bound with silverplated banding with quality screwed construction; and a vacant shield-shaped cartouche to the front.

The interior is lucky enough to have retained it's original creamware liner, and without damage, quite miraculous. There is a silver plated drainer which fits in the bottom and allows water to drain to the bottom. This drainer is marked by the best English silversmith, Elkington & Co., being Elkington, it allows us to date it accurately this maker uniquely used a date letter usually only found on sterling silver. The date letter in this case is X in a square, for the year 1883.

A really super and very usable piece of antique bar ware in excellent condition. Rim diameter: 5 1/2", stands 5 1/2" excluding swing handle.
