This antique 20th-century large Compactum wardrobe, crafted by Jas Shoolbred & Co, is an exceptional example of fine furniture.
Made from walnut, it is extremely well built and showcases spectacular natural grain and rich, warm colour, reflecting the finest quality craftsmanship.
The wardrobe features a beautifully fitted interior designed for maximum functionality. Both sides contain hanging sections, with the left-hand side incorporating a bevel-edged mirror door, a top shelf, multiple brass hanging hooks, and a drawer at the base. The centre section includes a two-door cupboard with two internal shelves, and four large drawers below, providing ample storage. The right-hand side also features a bevel-edged mirror door, three brass hooks in the top section, additional hooks below, and a base drawer, making it highly practical for everyday use.
Standing on a plinth base, the piece retains all its original decorative brass handles and fittings, complemented by subtle, elegant
...carvings throughout. Designed to come apart into five sections for ease of transport, this wardrobe is a very rare and desirable example of 20th-century craftsmanship.
