Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The underside is marked with the makers initials B & S for the silversmith Boardman & Glossop of Sheffield; this particular mark dates the piece between 1861 and 1871, further confirmed with the additional initials GS for Germanic Silver, which was used on early silverplate (marked this way as nickel was first mined in Saxony).
Excellent condition, ready for use, measuring 24" handle to handle x 14 1/2".
