Introduced in the late 18th century by English potteries such as Caughley and Spode, the Willow Pattern is a chinoiserie design inspired by imported Chinese hand-painted porcelain motifs, featuring pagodas, bridges, willow trees, and tea houses.

Pearlware was developed in the late 18th century by adding cobalt oxide to the clear lead glaze, producing a distinctive pale blue tint in crevices that counteracted the yellow tones of the underlying earthenware body.

Authentic pieces exhibit cobalt blue pooling glaze in rim undercuts, minor transferware pattern misalignment from hand-application, subtle surface rippling, and period-appropriate firing marks or maker impressions on the reverse.
