Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A floral spray brooch is an antique piece of jewellery designed to depict flowers, leaves, and stems tied in a spray or bouquet. Popularised during the 19th century, particularly in Victorian and French Second Empire design, these pieces represented botanical themes through fine metalwork and gem-setting.

During this era, diamonds were frequently set in silver-topped gold settings. The silver front enhanced the colourless appearance of diamonds, while the gold reverse prevented silver tarnish from staining clothing.

Authentic pieces often feature French hallmark stamps, such as the eagles head for 18ct gold or the boars head for silver, stamped on the outer rim or pin stem. Construction indicators include hand-cut diamonds, open-backed or foil-backed collet settings, and hinged pin mechanisms appropriate to the period.

An antique floral brooch can be fastened to the lapel of a tailored blazer, secured to a silk scarf, or placed in hair accessories for formal events. Positioning the piece on the waistline of a gown or pinned to a coat collar offers a contemporary approach to classic jewellery styling.

Clean the brooch gently using a soft-bristled brush and lukewarm water with mild detergent, taking care not to submerge closed-back settings. Store the piece individually in a lined jewellery box away from humidity to prevent silver oxidisation and protect soft gemstones.
