A fantastic quality William IV domestic regulator by William Young of Dundee, Scotland. He is listed as working there from 1805 to 1843. This clock dates from around 1830.
The case is superb quality in beautifully figured mahogany with lovely carved mounts and ebony details. It has its original trend door lock and key.
The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a dead beat escapement and extremely heavy pendulum with a wooden rod and large regulating nut. The lovely clear silvered dial has subsidiary seconds and date dials and fine moon hands.
The case is in excellent original, unrestored condition, has retained its original finish and is a lovely colour.
The movement is in good clean condition, running well and keeping good time.
