Gents 1940s Movado Calendograf Wrist Watch

Gents 1940s Movado Calendograf wrist watch, ref 14786.

The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement, the calibre 470, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Movado name.

The Calendograf was first introduced in 1938 and featured at various trade fairs throughout the 1940s. The model was discontinued in 1954.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case has a solid rose gold bezel, lug cappings and winding crown. The rest of the case is stainless steel. The case is in beautiful condition.

The inside of the case back has the Movado logo of a hand holding a watch, and the model number 14786.

The lens is in lovely condition.

The dial is in its original finish with original hands. It is signed Beyer Zurich, Movado but the wording is very faded and difficult to read. Beyer jewellers of Zurich claim to be the oldest watch retailer in the world, founded in 1760.

The dial has day and month apertures in German. The day is initially set by winding the hands forwards. The month is set by way of the small button above the crown. The date pointer is set via the small button beneath the winding crown.

There is light marking across the dial.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
