This fine vintage piano stool dates from the early 20th century and is both practical and full of period charm. The stool is fitted with a deep red buttoned leather seat, generously padded and finished with decorative studding around the edge, now mellowed with natural creasing, surface scuffs and a rich patina that only age and use can produce. The square wooden frame is incredibly strong and stable, constructed in a simple yet elegant form with stretcher supports, and still houses the original heavy iron height-adjusting mechanism, which works surprisingly easily. Operated by turned wooden knobs at each side, the ironwork within remains intact and functional, a testament to its quality manufacture.
