Antique English Sterling Silver Tea Caddy - London 1896

Description

A highly decorative Victorian sterling silver tea cannister or caddy, cylindrical and beautifully decorated with embossed or repousse decoration.

The front and back both have a vacant cartouche, which of course could be engraved by your silversmith if you would like to personalize it in any way. The two cartouches are joined by a floral frieze and top and bottom have an attractive fluted design. The pull off top is crowned with a repousse floral motif.

The silver is hallmarked for London 1896, together with the makers mark for Josiah Williams & Co -George Maudsley Jackson.

A good weight, 3 Troy Ounces or 93 Grams. The base diameter measures 2 1/2" and the caddy stands 3 5/8".
