This fine and impressive antique opal pendant has been crafted in 15ct yellow gold.

The impressive pendant is embellished with a collet set circular cabochon cut opal, articulating to the terminal of a plain gold drop.

The pensile pale is suspended from a further collet set cabochon cut opal, completing the design.

The opal pendant is suspended from an integrated 17' chain via two integrated ring loops to the upper border, securing to the reverse with a conventional spring-loaded bolt ring fastening.

This side of the bar is hallmarked with the 15ct gold mark (15CT); the pendant and chain have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 15 carat gold.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A lavaliere necklace is a type of pendant necklace popularised in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, featuring a decorative drop element suspended from a chain, often set with gemstones linked by gold bars.

Late Victorian jewellery frequently incorporated 15ct yellow gold, a British standard recognised between 1854 and 1932, alongside natural gemstones such as opals, pearls, and diamonds.

Authentic British pieces from this era often bear specific fineness stamps, such as 15ct or .625, alongside characteristic hand-finished bezel settings and delicate hand-drawn chains.

Antique drop necklaces pair well with open-neck blouses, V-neck tops, or minimalist evening wear, allowing the central drop element and gemstone colour to stand out.

Opals are delicate, porous gemstones that should be kept away from water, extreme temperature changes, cosmetics, and harsh chemicals to maintain their structural integrity and optical play-of-colour.
