M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The canister lids having been fixed and fitted with lamp-holders , in need of rewiring (which can be completed to client’s specifications).

The versos having applied oval manufacturers trade labels of “Bartlett & Son, Welch Back , Bristol”. The firm of John Bartlett , born London 1825 , are recorded as “Japanners of Grocer’s Tea Canisters” and by 1852 were working in Welsh or Welch Back in Bristol.
