Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Khatamkari is a traditional Persian technique of marquetry that originated centuries ago in cities like Shiraz and Isfahan. Artisans create intricate micro-mosaics by assembling delicate triangular rods into geometric star patterns, which are then bound into long prisms and sliced into thin decorative veneer sheets.

Traditional Khatamkari involves a combination of fine hardwoods such as ebony, teak, walnut, and citrus wood, alongside drawn brass wire and carved camel bone or ivory. These materials are glued together in dense arrangements to create contrasting geometric tessellations.

Authentic Khatamkari exhibits high density in its geometric pattern, with seamless symmetry and minimal visible gaps between the inlaid triangular components. Real pieces combine natural materials including wood, bone, and polished brass wire beneath a protective clear varnish layer.

A Khatamkari tissue box functions as an accent piece on a bedside table, desk, or bathroom counter, introducing artisan texture and historical pattern into neutral or contemporary room schemes. It offers a structured geometric detail that contrasts well with stone surfaces or plain timber furniture.

To preserve the natural wood, bone, and glue joints, keep the object away from direct sunlight, radiator heat, and high moisture environments. Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using liquid cleaners, abrasive pads, or chemical polishes.
