A rare survivor. A Georgian silver prize token in the form of an artists pallet. No marks but tests as silver. Awarded to the Rev J Leigh in 1833. Extensive searches have shed no light on the recipient or what the token was awarded for. As it is in the form of an artists pallet we are presuming it was awarded for art.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Georgian period, custom silver tokens were created as membership passes, admission tokens for private societies, or honorary awards for artistic achievement.

These pieces were typically cast or cut from sterling silver, copper, or brass, featuring hand-engraved text, dates, and decorative motifs tailored to the issuing institution.

Authentic period tokens feature period-accurate hand engraving techniques, genuine surface patina, historical maker marks or hallmarks, and dates consistent with the era.

Small antique silver tokens can be displayed in framed shadow boxes, arranged under glass display domes, or presented on a desk tray alongside leather-bound books.

Gently dust silver tokens with a soft microfiber cloth and polish sparingly using dedicated silver cloth to preserve natural age patina without causing wear to hand engravings.
