1934 Roberts & Belk Art Deco Solid Silver Polygon Sides Round Top Sugar Shaker

A sterling silver sugar caster, also known as a sugar shaker or muffineer. This object is a small, typically cylindrical or baluster-shaped container, designed for sprinkling finely ground sugar over food.

Perforated Dome Lid: The top section is domed and perforated with decorative cut-outs, facilitating the even distribution of sugar.

Central Finial: A small, turned finial surmounts the lid, serving as a decorative element and a point of grip.

Tapered Body: The main body of the caster tapers downwards, resting on a circular foot.

Decorative Banding: The rim where the lid meets the body features a decorative band, likely incorporating a foliate or patterned design, and a cartouche containing initials.

Hallmarks: Visible on the side of the body are a series of hallmarks, including a maker's mark (R&B in a rectangular cartouche) and other symbols indicating the quality of the silver and possibly the assay office and date.
