Antique Victorian Solid Silver Salts Basket Weave Design - Robert Hennell 1862

We are delighted to offer this fabulous & collectable pair of antique Victorian salt cellars made in London, 1862 by Robert Hennell.

Distinguished and distinct, the pair feature a unique basket weave design that was a speciality of Robert Hennell's design. Presenting a very detailed, lifelike and textured surface, the basket weave design is a lovely novelty in addition to a collectable, especially as Hennell produced different articles with this same pattern, one may wish to have a uniform look.

The design is very intricate and a testament to Hennell's wares and the craftsmanship of the era - the twist rope design at each end is a lovely touch with two freely moving loop handles on each side.

The interior gilding lightly remains and offers a nice contrast to its exterior.

Overall, a lovely pair of collectable salts and exemplary of how fine craftsmanship permeates even modestly sized articles. A beautiful set, ideal for both collections or practical usage.

A full set of matching English hallmarks are present on the bottom of the salts.
