In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The skewer is good quality and made from a heavy gauge silver, weighing approximately 93g. It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1794, Joseph Smith.
It is in good condition with a very clear hallmark. There are no major damages but a possible old repair near the tip (see photo).
It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
