A matched pair by Kister Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM), Scheibe-Alsbach, circa 1887. Young figures in 18th-century dress pull shell-form carts on large wheels. Each cart presents a lion mask to the front with a rocaille leaf ornament above; sides with rocaille scrolls; interiors plain white. The oval bases carry sponged earth-tone coloring typical for Thuringian porcelain of the late nineteenth century. Painting in a Dresden-style pastel palette with raised “pearl” gilding — a noted Kister finish. Underglaze blue “KPM” over crossed strokes, impressed 1445-9; vent hole.
