Grand Austrian (Viennese) antique (late 19thC) hand-painted porcelain lidded urn with gilt bronze fittings. The imposing urn is profusely decorated with mythological figures of beasts and gods on the body, lid and base, accompanied by intricate, colourful acanthus patterns, extending to the underside of the lid and base. The urn’s ears are in the form of the Greek god, Pan, adorned in engraved and gilded bronze, the edges intricately decorated with pleats and garlands, making this a rare and truly exquisite piece. Ca. 37cm high x 17cm diameter (widest part), weight 1.55kg.
Excellent condition for age with some signs of wear. No damage or repairs.
