The Artist
Edward Horace Thompson (1879–1949) was born in Seaton, Cumbria, and became recognised as one of the region’s foremost landscape painters. Though he began his career working in a factory office, he later devoted himself fully to art, establishing a studio in Cockermouth. His watercolours, deeply rooted in the natural beauty of the Lake District, are held in private collections worldwide. Thompson’s works have been exhibited at Gladstone & Patterson and sold at leading auction houses, with notable prices reaching up to $4,605 USD, confirming his enduring market appeal.
Thirlmere and Helvellyn
Helvellyn stands as the third-highest peak in England and the Lake District, famed for its dramatic ridges such as Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. Immortalised by poets Wordsworth and Coleridge, it remains one of the most celebrated mountains in Britain.
